SmartFinancial is a leading insurance technology company working on building tools to make the insurance shopping process better, simpler, and more effective. We are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth, and we are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our rapidly growing finance team. Our ideal candidate will assist with all facets of the accounting department to maintain accurate financial records. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, has a can-do attitude, and is passionate about supporting the growth of an innovative insurance technology company. How you will make an impact: Performing day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable/receivable data. Pays invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing disbursements; obtaining authorization of payment. Obtains revenue by verifying transaction information; computing charges and refunds; preparing and mailing invoices; identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments. Collects revenue by reminding delinquent accounts; notifying customers of insufficient payments. Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions. Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions. Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation; issuing stop payments, payments, or adjustments. Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls. Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Assists with payroll processing. Skills and Qualifications: BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting 1 years in a similar or related position. Working knowledge of general ledger systems Strong analytical, problem solving, and multitasking skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs). Strong understanding of General ledger, financial statements preparation & analysis.
