Our Project Development Team
At NORESCO, Project Developers direct the development of energy efficiency projects by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions for our federal customers' resiliency, energy efficiency and capital improvement challenges. They have a strong understanding of a wide range of technology offerings and have the communication and business skills necessary to bridge the gap between the sales, engineering, and construction management groups. Project Developers translate customer needs into strategic and technical guidance to the development team.
We have an immediate need for a Senior Project Developer.
The following are the areas of responsibility for this position:
Technical/financial support of sales activities
Financial modeling of Energy Performance Contracts
Proposal writing and review/QC Management and coordination of proposal team
Conducts walk-throughs of customer facilities to determine project viability
Interviews customers to determine facility needs and assess customer expectations
Assists in the preparation of customer presentations
Presents the business case of the proposal for oral interviews and customer meetings
Financial Modeling of Energy Performance Contracts:
Combines energy savings values, sub-contracted costs, and purchased material costs and incorporates these data into NORESCO's financial model
Reviews energy savings and costs for reasonableness based on past experience, metrics, and knowledge of the project
Analyzes Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for technical and financial viability
Identifies ECM and project cost and savings risks, and develops a plan and strategy to manage and mitigate these risks
Proposal Writing and Review/QC:
Responsible for financial sections of the proposal
Reviews ECM Write-Ups and other technical proposal sections provided by Senior Energy Engineers for risk mitigation and customer pain points
Coordinates proposal document strategy and tactics with team
Supported by a Proposal Administrator (PA) to review, edit, and assemble the Preliminary Assessment and IGA/DFS documents
Management and Coordination of Development Team:
Manages the proposal team including Account Executive, Senior Energy Engineer(s), Lighting and Water Auditor/Designer, Construction Manager, O&M, M&V Specialist, Legal and Finance
Host weekly conference calls to communicate strategy and tactics, review team member's responsibilities and progress to date against milestones
Coordinates and leads risk review meeting prior to proposal submission, presenting the business case for the project to Senior Management
Manages the PA and IGA/DFS budgets and timelines to produce project deliverables on time and within budget
Secure project award
Stay engaged through Implementation and Performance phases to manage contract compliance and customer satisfaction
Education / Certifications
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an engineering or technical discipline.
MBA, PE, and CEM are not required, but are considered a plus
Experience working on Federal ESPC and UESC a plus
General requirements we look for include:
7-10+ years' experience in energy engineering and/or engineering project management
Experience in development of Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) projects preferred
Strong communication and team leadership skills
Skilled with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Strong technical writing skills
Sales aptitude and keen business acumen
General engineering knowledge of HVAC, lighting & lighting controls, DDC / pneumatic controls, and building envelope. Experience with Resiliency measures including onsite generation (PV, CHP etc.), battery storage, microgrid a distinct plus
