Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:As a member of the Marketing Engagement & Excellence organization, the Marketing Governance Leader is responsible for leading an organization focused on Governance, Regulatory and Audit Management, and Supplier Surveillance. Each team is aligned with business stakeholders to provide expertise, insight, and a centralized first line view of the Marketing function's performance in achieving compliance, regulatory, and process control objectives. Reporting to the Marketing Engagement & Excellence SVP, the Marketing Governance Leader is responsible for the development and implementation of first line of defense governance, process control, regulatory and audit liaison, and oversight management routines spanning the entire Marketing function. This individual must be a strong people leader, able to think both strategically and tactically, influence in a matrixed environment, and embrace a culture of change and innovation.This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.   • The Marketing Governance Leader will provide leadership, and a centralized view, of the function's process controls in place to comply with regulations, by leading the oversight of controls and risk identification across the entire function
  • Partner with leaders from key functions within SYF: Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Center of Expertise/Excellence (COE) Leaders, and Client/Platform Teams alike, to deliver on business goals and objectives
  • Provide clear thought leadership to drive a culture of proactive risk management across the Marketing function
  • Direct support of key Marketing governance elements including annual validations of the process universe, annual assessments of current risks and controls (RAQs, RCSAs, PRSCAs), business impact assessments, CTC management, and policy and procedure management.
  • Lead professionals in the execution of key privacy related governance activities
  • Provide periodic governance updates to the Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing Senior Leadership Team
  • The Marketing Governance Leader will provide leadership and a centralized approach to regulatory, audit, and exam management across Marketing
  • Partner with Supervisory Affairs to understand direction of regulatory risk and key areas of regulatory interest, serving as the initial point of contact between Marketing and supervisory affairs. The Marketing Governance leader will coordinate, review and submit requests related to regulatory engagement.
  • Lead the development of Marketing content for quarterly updates with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) examiners
  • Partner with Supervisory Affairs, Internal Audit, Risk Testing Team, and others to provide key business support and guidance in preparation for during and after exams, MRA closures, audits, and reviews.
  • Coordinate annual review calendar, provide periodic governance updates to the Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing Senior Leadership Team
  • Special projects as assigned
  • The Marketing Governance Leader will lead professionals in the surveillance and oversight of Supplier activities across Marketing
  • Execute supplier surveillance activities to ensure accurate and compliant execution of required supplier oversight activities
  • Partner closely with the Supplier Management Center of Excellence to ensure timely and compliant supplier activities are performed across the Marketing function
  • Any other responsibilities and special projects as assignedQualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and 12 years of experience in marketing governance within the financial services industry.
    • 8+ years of functional, risk and/or process management experience in the financial services industry or another regulated industry
    • 5+ years of experience to include:
      • Experience with analytical, organizational, and decision-making responsibilities
      • Understanding of marketing business systems and processes
      • Cross functional team leadership experience
      • Experience working in Surveillance, Governance, Regulatory, Audit, or Risk ManagementDesired Skills:
        • Exceptional communication skills with confidence in presenting to Senior Leadership audiences
        • Ability to influence and work across a matrixed organization
        • Demonstrated strategic and process skills with proven ability to execute
        • Team player in fast-paced, high-energy environment
        • Project Management and process improvement experience
        • Goal oriented, self-motivated
        • Good knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and bulletins/guidance
        • Experience managing a team, including team members across multiple locations or remote
        • Experience operating in a regulated environment preferably including experience at managerial level in the finance sector.
        • Demonstrated experience as an agent of change within a heavily regulated environment
        • Excellent team skills and proven ability to work cross functionally as well as within own function.
        • Facilitation and problem solving.Eligibility Requirements:
          • You must be 18 years or older
          • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
          • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
          • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
          • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months' time in position before they can post.
