For these reasons, we are seeking a Culinary Director to join the leadership team. JOB OVERVIEW The primary responsibility of this role is to create menu items that are powerful expressions of our concept(s) which exceed our Guests expectations for quality/value. This guest experience will drive return visits and strong positive "word-of-mouth" stories resulting in a growth in increased community presence through social media and an increase in sales. She/he will ensure the upward trend in business by ensuring consistency of all our menu offerings throughout all King Signature Group locations. All efforts will be made to involve Executive chefs and their teams in menu creation to ensure professional growth and development for all. The Culinary Director will be a role model to everyone they make contact with, inspiring all workgroups to be ambassadors of product knowledge, quality and consistency. She/he will partner with the Director of Operations in roll outs, changes/enhancements, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the Culinary Director will dedicate themselves to participate fully in the ongoing management of all food related financial programs, and the general cleanliness, maintenance and organization of our kitchens. ESSENTIAL SKILLS1) Ability to positively influence their region through effective leadership skills.2) Ability to resolve and drive resolution for simple and complex conflicts with crew, managers, and Guests. 3) Ability to exercise common sense, creativity, and impartiality when making decisions.4) Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly despite frequent, stressful or unusual interruptions.5) Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organizations.6) Ability to effectively manage culinary programs.7) Ability to effectively manage projects, often more than one at a time.8) Ability to travel for business for up to 2 weeks at a time.9) Literacy in variety of computer programs like MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Desirable QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate from Culinary Institute
  • Experience in multi-unit management.
  • Experience in high volume full-service restaurant as the Chef. Culinary Acumen: The Culinary Director is first and foremost a great cook with wide scope and experience. They are intimate in the nuts and bolts of running ambitious restaurant kitchens. They will have extensive culinary experience (over ten years) working in a variety of cuisines using both traditional and contemporary cooking methods. They will have led medium (15-30) to large (35+) teams of skilled chefs and cooks to achieve popular and critical acclaim. They will have a great comfort with the purchasing, handling and cookery of all proteins. They will have a great hunger to continuously improve their knowledge of local, seasonal, and regional products and dishes. They will have an inquisitive mind and seeks out ways to better themselves and share new tools/skills with others. Leadership Acumen: Since the Culinary Director will almost always be generating change in the form of new dishes, menu enhancements, and new improved efficiencies of process, she/he will be a clear, confident and eager communicator. This will ensure that all changes are thoroughly understood by all of the team, and through them, by our Guests. The Culinary Director is fearless and tireless in her/his efforts to ensure the understanding necessary to deliver consistently executed menu items. She/he will lead and participate in failure anticipation, course corrections, and post mortems to anticipate barriers, catch mistakes, and learn for future growth. They will be vigilant about maintaining best practices for the company on a consistent basis. Recognition for great work will be public and celebrated by the Culinary Director driving others to desire the same results. She/he will have a powerful presence whenever they are in a restaurant, making a positive impression and leaving a impactful message that sustains the standards of the company when they are gone. Financial Acumen: The ideal candidate will either come equipped to or be eager to learn to create menu items that are appropriately and accurately costed to provide a great sense of value for our Guests while also achieving the expected profit goals for the restaurant. They will take great pride in being a resource to their team in the solution of isolated and everyday food cost issues. They'll work diligently to help solve any larger system-wide variance and kitchen comp issues. They will have full access to our internal resources, financial systems and inventory reporting. They will partner with our internal food cost theory experts, Restaurant Analysts, to provide any information needed for troubleshooting and support. Operational Acumen: Since the Culinary Director is a respected leader with her/his own history of great single and/or multi-unit operations they will naturally offer insights when needed. They will seek to bring best practices from one location to another in a well-planned, thoroughly communicated and organized manner. Because of their past experience in excellent kitchens they'll have great eyes for detail and be standard enforcers of staffing, cleanliness and organization. Additionally, the Culinary Director:
    • Has great follow up and great follow through.
    • A great delegator who knows that everyone develops differently.
    • Has a great work ethic, puts in a solid 10 hour work day 5 days a week and knows to look for the most vulnerable of his charges on the busiest shifts and on the busiest holidays they'll know where they'll be of the greatest help.
    • Takes great pride in appearance, punctuality, readiness and positive energy.
    • Holds people accountable for their work and is a great coach.
    • Loves to see subordinates grow and measures her/his value to the company by the success of the team.
    • Is aware of what the competition is doing…is a "student" of our industry.
    • Gives organized feedback after each visit with clear goals for team follow up.
    • Is committed to the highest level of professional and ethical behavior.
    • Role models emotional maturity under pressure.
    • Works on new restaurant openings and kitchen design for new restaurant locations or remodels.
    • Are dedicated to continuous improvement of themselves, their teams and the restaurant.
    • Is proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Has excellent communication skills both written and verbally
    • Sets personal and operational goals and achieves them
    • Exceeds the expectation of the team
    • Is energized with out of state travel, long term visits for new restaurant opens or troubleshooting
