Job Description:

*Summary*The Preschool Director of the Language Immersion Program will be responsible for monitoring program excellence, the professional development of the teaching staff, curriculum design, teacher training, supervising operations, and the use of technology to support teaching and learning. The Preschool Director will be experienced in early childhood development and lead management of the school.*Monitoring of Language Immersion Program Classes ** Monitors and reports all students' proficiency ratings in the Language Immersion classes and reports these ratings to thePrincipal.* Appoints Language Immersion teachers to all Language Immersion classes* Reads and interprets all teaching evaluations generated in Language Immersion classes, recommends modifications toLanguage Immersion Program and presents these to the Principal or CEO* Initiates all formal assessments (as per Faculty and Staff Handbook) of teaching staff* Conducts assessments of each staff member annually* Hiring and retention of teaching staff* Initiates all Language Immersion teaching staff searches with the assistance of the Human Resources Manager* Participates in discussions regarding re-hiring and approves all language teaching staff hires and re-hires* Management of budgets* Advocates for staff, salary, and infrastructural resources* Allocates resources for language courses* Monitors expenditures across the academic year* Controls course and class size* Supports advocates for and is knowledgeable on technology use in the curriculum.*Duties and Responsibilities ** Create an environment where children feel safe and love coming to preschool* Oversee the planning and delivery of meals for the children.* Work with guidance counselors on students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns* Be active in all day-to-day campus activities, including pick-up, drop-off, breaks, and mealtimes.* Conduct tours and actively seek new students* Plan special school activities, back-to-school nights, graduation and holiday programs, as well as put the school calendar together each year* Conduct parent meetings and assist in coordinating school functions for Language Immersion parents* If requested by parents, ensure that information is delivered in a language that they can easily understand.* Work on the annual budget with the school principal, to be voted on and approved by the principal and CEO* Handle general finances of the preschool: work within the approved budget, order curriculum and supplies, submit payroll notes and oversee billing and collections of monthly tuition* Purchase needed supplies, textbooks, and materials for the Language Immersion Program* In collaboration with the members of the program, reviews, evaluates and recommends instructional materials and textbooks* Maintains a current inventory of all equipment and supplies, including supplementary texts and materials. Develops and implements short and long-range plans for the efficient operation of the Language Immersion Program* Interview and recommend teachers and assistants as possible candidates for employment* Is knowledgeable of the educational qualifications of each department member and encourages continuing education to build on those qualifications.* Maintain google spreadsheet information for all active, inactive, and exited Language Immersion students* Ensure that the property is well-maintained.* Seek out prospective teachers and assistant teachers, conduct interviews, and choose employees as needed*Supervisory Responsibilities ** Supervise the daily activities of the preschool staff* Train and observe preschool staff* Perform annual performance reviews* Oversee all operations and procedures of the preschool* Ensure that policies and procedures of the school are being followed along with appropriate forms of discipline* Ensure all rules and regulations for Human Services are implemented* Ability to effectively document classroom observations, analyze data to improve instructional practices, and correspond with staff from all levels.* Convenes weekly program meetings with an agenda and minutes. Make it accessible to each member* Schedule training in CPR and First Aid for all staff members and ongoing schedule training for teachers.* Work effectively with staff*Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications ** B.A or B.S. College degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field* Current CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions certification (or willing to obtain within the first 30 days)* 3-5 years of experience as a Preschool Director* Experience or knowledge on starting and establishing a preschool program* Experience or knowledge of Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence* Strong organizational, planning, and implementation skills* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook* Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions* Meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job*Language Skills ** Bilingual in English, Mandarin, or Spanish* Ability to read and interpret rules, policy and expectation documents, staff agreements, evaluation requirements, curriculum/materials, and student assessment documents.* Ability to speak before groups of staff, governing board, administration, and parents.*Reports To *Teresa Tseng, Principal*FSLA Status *Exempt*Disclaimer *The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
