Job Description: Role Summary/Purpose: The VP, Health & Wellness Data Leader role will be responsible for creating and advancing healthcare data assets including provider and client performance data. Responsible for realizing Synchrony's business vision for its data assets, achieving or exceeding quality, security, regulatory, and performance standards. This role engages with clients externally in order to understand requirements and anticipate future needs, while also working with multiple internal teams to accomplish development and operational initiatives. Leads the research and analysis into the value of external data sources, and spearheads the implementation of any offerings from selected third-party vendors. Works with internal business and technical teams to break work down into phases based on business priorities and engineering dependencies. Specifies ongoing workflows to encompass ingestion, cleaning, curation and maintenance of data, and works with leadership of internal groups to ensure all required processes are implemented and monitored. The role will partner with multiple cross-functional business partners and clients to leverage data as a distinctive competency to drive growth for the Health & Wellness platform. You may be occasionally requested to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own the overall Health & Wellness long term data vision and strategy supporting the growth of the platform, enhancing and creating the data assets that support its human health, dental, and veterinary markets
  • Engaging with clients with the goal of understanding their current and future needs in order to develop data assets that meet or exceed their requirements
  • Elevates the understanding of data as an asset that is fundamental to measure performance and develop insights that fuel future growth for SYF and our clients
  • Partnering with Health & Wellness and SYF leadership, fostering the synergies that accelerate and maximize delivery results
  • Member of Data Management Council, responsible for Healthcare providers' counterparty data domain
  • Works with data stewards and data users to define business and data requirements, data quality rules, and critical data elements within the providers' counterparty domain
  • Researching the offerings of external data vendors to assess the viability of using third-party data to help drive mutual Synchrony-client ROI
  • Developing deep understanding of internal Synchrony functions, including but not limited to Strategy, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Provider Experience, Analytics, IT, and the Data Office, and working with internal leaders to support the vision for the data assets
  • Leads strategic data initiatives for the platform that deliver incremental business value
  • Use current analytic assets to assess business performance and develop recommendations for additional analytics to drive insights into operational performance and root cause analysis
  • Develop business case presentations and execute action plans to drive enhancement and creation of the data assets
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses, synthesize diverse and complex information to develop data-driven stories and to address business questions. Deliver high-quality execution of operational analytics and MIS reporting.
  • Accountable as Data Trustee to the Data Office for compliance with the Data Management strategy, governance policies and requirements for the data domain, including risk management, development and approval of business terms, requirements, quality rules, and resolution of issues.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years' experience in Healthcare Industry OR in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 11+ years' experience in Healthcare Industry
    • Proven understanding of the healthcare industry financial P&L drivers and key sensitivities, with business performance reporting experience
    • A minimum of 7+ years progressive work experience in healthcare industry data, including:
      • 2+ years of experience in analytics, analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions,
      • 2+ years of experience working on tasks or projects with cross functional partners such as Marketing and Sales, IT and analytics teams
      • 2+ years of experience with projects requiring quantitative skills and ability to interpret data from multiple sources
      • 2+ years of leadership at a senior level
        • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
        • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time, as required
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: business writing, developing pitches tailored to the audience, delivering presentations and leading meetings
        • Excellent management, organizational and prioritization skills
        • Collaborative skill set with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes in a cross-functional, matrixed organization
        • Strong financial/analytical skills Desired Characteristics:
          • Advanced degree in healthcare or public health preferred
          • Ability to provide strategic leadership and vision across a developing landscape
          • Significant knowledge and experience with data governance tools (i.e., Collibra) and data inventories (i.e., data catalog, data dictionary)
          • Strong skill in project management, communications, multi-tasking, ability to work independently, and relationship management are keys to success
          • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and multiple initiatives
          • Cross-functional experience with a track record of leading in a matrix environment and influencing key decision makers
          • Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with partners to gain alignment and achieve key deliverables
          • Ability to perform ad-hoc analysis, glean and form business insights under aggressive timelines
          • Ability to synthesize/analyze diverse information, develop and recommend strategies, and articulate clearly to business partners and customers
          • Proven understanding of the healthcare industry financial P&L drivers and key sensitivities, with business performance reporting experience

          • Client facing experience Grade/Level: 13The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD AnnualSalaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible. Eligibility Requirements:
            • You must be 18 years or older
            • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
            • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
            • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
            • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
