Job Description:

The Clinic Nurse (RN) works with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and patients to resolve questions concerning medications, health education, and provides direction to patients using a defined set of protocols within their scope of practiceEssential Functions

• Answer phone in a timely and polite manner
  • Take accurate notes and relay the message to the appropriate provider/person
    • The Phone Triage Nurse works with the providers and patients to assess the urgency of patient problems. Accesses the patient using SBAR and documents the findings in the medical record.
      • Uses the information and a defined set of guidelines to render the appropriate actions for the patients.
        • Retrieves messages from phone and through electric means in a timely manner and responds to patient needs according to medical priority
          • The Triage nurse works with the providers to assist in pre authorizing medications of an urgent nature
            • The Triage nurse documents all phone calls in the Electronic Health record using the correct medical terminology.
              • Follows through in a timely manner to all provider and patient requests
                • Perform other duties as assigned
                  • Position may require local travel between various organization locations.
                    • Clinical Care: Ensure patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to population as outlined in the job description and competencies.Education, Training and Experience Required: Successful completion of a nursing program to be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse with BRN for the state of California.Preferred: Two years or more of nursing experience. Previous medical office experience and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experienceSkills or Other QualificationsRequired: --- Ability to interface with all customer levels --- Strong critical thinking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.Preferred:License and CertificationsRequired: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing in the state of California.
