is committed to quality. Key Responsibilities :
- Will work both in the field and in the office in the office on
water resources and environmental projects with the schedule to be
determined by project needs
- Compile, analyze, and interpret geologic, hydrogeologic,
hydrologic, and geochemical data
- Work with more senior staff to develop and apply numerical
models of groundwater flow, vadose zone flow, and solute
transport
- Set up field projects, including permitting; coordinating with
staff, laboratories, and subcontractors; and obtaining necessary
equipment
- Conduct field work including drilling and well construction
oversight, soil sampling and logging, groundwater monitoring, soil
gas sampling, aquifer testing, field mapping, and trench
logging
- Ensure projects are performed safely
- Prepare draft technical reports, including technical writing,
development of report tables, and figures
- Will travel to project sites locally and out of the area as
necessary. Approximately 15% overnight travel Skills /
Qualifications Requirements :
- BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Engineering Geology,
Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- 1 - 5+ years of work experience
- Strong analytical, technical writing, organization, and
communication skills
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability and willingness to travel locally and out of the area
as necessary. Approximately 15% overnight travel
- Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a
satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's
driving policy Preferred :
- MS with coursework in hydrogeology, hydrology, groundwater
modeling, and GIS
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access and ESRI ArcGIS software to
manage and visualize data
- Familiarity with development, calibration, and application of
numerical models of groundwater flow and solute transport using
MODFLOW and MT3D or other software
- Knowledge of scripting languages (R, Python, VBA)
- Familiarity with automated parameter optimization for model
calibration using PEST or other tools
- Familiarity with modeling of unsaturated flow using Hydrus,
VS2D, or other software
- Familiarity with numerical analysis of aquifer test data using
AQTESOLV and other methods
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (if not, Wood will
provide)
- Geologist in Training or Engineer in Training in the State of
California Physical Demands :
- Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather
conditions
- Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
- Working in a standing position for the majority of the field
workday
- Ability to drive large pick-up truck
- Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
- Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory
function
- Must complete fit for duty employment physical demonstrating
ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a
respirator, as required
- Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as
