WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships (Major Gifts Officer) for the Western United States
JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships has the opportunity to meaningfully engage donors and prospective donors in A21's mission to abolish slavery everywhere, forever. The successful candidate will be a skilled networker with a fearless approach to building relationships with high-net-worth individuals and organizational leaders with the ability to convert these relationships into financial commitments. The region for the position is the western states in the U.S. The position is remote and can be based anywhere within the region.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ KEY DUTIES
INDIVIDUALS
--- Cultivate relationships with existing major donors to strengthen the connection to the mission, increase giving, and secure introductions to others in their network
--- Cultivate relationships with prospective major donors, provide a compelling case for investing in A21's work, and secure gifts at the $5k+ level
--- Conduct 15 or more face-to-face visits each month with current major donors and prospective major donors
--- Encourage and equip major donors to host meetings and events to introduce their network to A21
--- Recruit top donors and high-capacity prospective donors to participate on A21 vision trips to deepen their connection to A21's mission and operational strategy
ORGANIZATIONS
--- Cultivate relationships with organizations who have given to A21 at a major gift level to share the impact of their support, to identify collaboration opportunities, and to secure additional support
--- Cultivate relationships with organizations who have a history with A21 but have not given at a major gift level with the goal of increasing their level of support
--- Identify new organizations who have an affinity with A21's mission to develop meaningful partnerships resulting in gifts at the $5k+ level
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
--- 3+ year track record of securing major gifts for a nonprofit required
--- Must be able to travel 30% of the time, including both domestic and international
--- Strong networker with an entrepreneurial spirit, effective in attracting and building new relationships with potential donors
--- Proven ability to effectively develop, nurture and maintain individual relationships and the skill to lead those individuals to make joyful financial investments
--- Experience speaking to high-net-worth individuals and organizational leaders effectively, intelligently, and passionately
--- Bachelor's degree required
--- Highly developed capacity to accurately and objectively evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of cultivation strategies and to make appropriate adjustments
--- Self-motivated, organized and disciplined to work independently
